LOOKLET – I don’t know if you guys still knows this fashion tool I’m going to talk about. Their website was once www. looklet. com and now it’s www.looklet.biz. It’s heartbreaking (you’ll know the reason later).
For those who aren’t familiar with Looklet, it was once an open-source/social networking site for those who love styling clothes and playing with everything about fashion. Looklet is more like a realistic “paper doll” where you can put clothes and other fashion accessories on real (when I say real, I mean a real person) models. It was fun and addictive! I myself invested a lot of time playing around and practicing my so-called skills in fashion styling. It was fun until the people who run it, ruined it. I apologize for the term ruin, but that’s the effect I’m really seeing now. The creators of Looklet decided to sell the program itself to businesses in the fashion industry. It’s reasonable, but I think it would be much better if they stayed that way – a social networking site for fashion lovers.
Social media is the THING today. It’s BIG. They shouldn’t have removed that advantage they already had. Back when Looklet was still fun, you can name your own creations and share it somewhere. Other users can ♥ it and comment on it. Just think about how you do it on Lookbook or even just on your uploaded Facebook photos. There’s really a lot more to say about it, but I just can’t continue now because of my frustrations on why they took it down. Well, it isn’t really gone, because as what I’ve said, it’s now used for business purposes. On the other hand, I’m still glad that they were still able to help fashion enthusiasts with their professions. It’s just that, IMHO, it would’ve been better if they just stayed that way and improved it from there.
Anyways, I think I’m still lucky enough to save some of my favorite works and I’m going to share them now here. I hope you like them. Please take note of the names, you’ll probably get the stories behind each styles. Continue reading
